Top Five Reasons To Serve on a Baruch College Committee:

  1. Meet other involved graduate students
  2. Learning about the inner workings of the college
  3. Get involved with important faculty and staff members
  4. Having a vote on issues that actually affect your experience at Baruch
  5. It’s a great resume builder

There are a bunch of important committees on which graduate students from all three schools at Baruch can serve as representatives. Are you ready to get more involved? Some of these committees meet once every week, others once every month, and some only once or twice a semester.

Check out the descriptions below and see what appeals to you!

All responses should be sent to Emily Rotella, the Graduate Student Assembly board member for Academic Affairs, at emily.rotella@baruchmail.cuny.edu.

COLLEGE PERSONNEL AND BUDGET COMMITTEE

Involves the appointment, reappointment and the granting of tenure to members of the Faculty. The student rep to the P&B has both voice and vote at the meeting.  In a tight vote, the student can, and has been the determining vote on whether a faculty member is promoted or tenured.  Failure to achieve tenure results in dismissal from the institution.  This is as serious as it gets and is the most influential and powerful student vote on campus because it involves faculty hiring and firing.
