Networking at STIX
By Papa Baffour-Awuah and Peter Hlinka
Last month the Association for International Business (AIB) hosted a Business Networking Cocktail for Baruch’s alumni and graduate communities at STIX Mediterranean Grill on 23rd street. The event began at 7:30pm and lasted until 10:30pm, and had well over 60 in attendance.
Even with the uncooperative weather several alumni were early, eager to network with current Baruch MBAs. By 8:00pm the cocktail was in full swing as students who just got out of their 5:50 classes teemed in, along with others who opted to cut their 7:30 classes short. Networking was the name of the game as wallets and purses flipped open, business cards exchanged hands, and the ever present, multi-purpose iPhone was made the instrument of choice by some at the event.
At the end of the night there was a consensus among students and alumni that the event had been a great success. For this, organizers thanked Lene Skou, Deputy Director of the Weissman Center for International Business; Lisa Poullard-Burton, Director of Alumni Relations; Professor Clifford Wymbs, Coordinator of the International Business program and AIB advisor; and the wonderful alumni and students in attendance. Without their support and hard work this event would not have been possible.
