Spring 2012 Mixer

by Danielle V Hemsley MS Statistics Candidate

On February 16th, 2012 Zicklin Women in Business (ZWIB) hosted a Spring Mixer co-sponsored by the Operations Management Club (OMC) & HCM I/O club.  Students gathered in room 2-125 of the Newman Vertical Campus to enjoy conversation, laughter, relaxation, coffee, tea, cookies, and other snacks in between classes.  Everyone put their networking skills to use and conversed on a range of topics such as the valuable opportunities at Baruch, the Stock Market, Jeremy Lin, and everything else in-between. First year students in attendance had an opportunity to meet other students in the same major, and get the scoop on which classes and professors are the best to take.

The students at the Spring Mixer had a lot to say, and here’s what we heard:

Treasurer of Human Capital Management and MBA I/O Psych Student Association & MBA candidate double majoring in Organizational Psychology and Finance, Richard Fassett said: “I was happy to see there was interest in our group in ZWIB because ZWIB represents a good general swath of the majors and concentrations in the Baruch graduate programs. Also, the HCM concentrations appears to be disproportionately made up of women, so perhaps in the future, as our club grows, we can get more out of working closely with ZWIB.”

Full time MBA candidate & ZWIB executive committee member, Shirley Kuo said: “ZWIB is always striving to offer graduate students opportunities to network and learn.  The upcoming International Women’s Day will be another great chance to get insight on women’s leadership.”

ZWIB is a professional organization dedicated to providing career, networking, and mentoring opportunities for Baruch students of all genders.  The club strives to continue to grow a community of professionals, alumni, and students to network, share, and build future dreams together.  For information on all future ZWIB events you can check out the ZWIB web-site http://zicklinwomeninbusiness.weebly.com
